The spined micrathena (
micrathena gracilis), or spined orb-weaver, builds a new web every day and takes it down every night, writes Jeffrey K. Barnes of The University of Arkansas
Arthropod Museum: "At dusk, the female ingests virtually every strand of the web except frame threads, on which she remains until morning. She rebuilds the orb at dawn."
This one was just a few feet from my front door.
